Son of a 442^nd regimental combat team veteran, Kalihi born and raised Colin Teraoka somehow ended up graduating from International Christian University in the 1970’s when being bilingual was more of a curiosity than a marketable skill. After floating around Tokyo for two years, Colin chose to go to MBA school and then to become a CPA in order to make a living.

After 10 years at two Big 4 accounting firms, and a long stint at a privately held Japanese owned company, Colin has spent the last 15 years creating and managing captive insurance companies for US and Japanese clients; he has created about 20 captive companies, about two-thirds of which were for Japanese owners. With his language skills and experience in accounting, international and domestic taxation and managing operations, Colin excels in creating make-to-fit captive insurance programs particularly for Japanese clients.

Colin has failed in every sport he has tried, golf being of special note. He still hopes, however, to outlast the competition. He occasionally listens to Hawaiian falsetto, opera or enka while working to lift his spirits.
